Critical Care Medicine at Dharan Hospital, is the medical care services to patient having life-threat illness or injuries, usually do take treatment at CCU/ICU. It is the unit, that has a team of multidisciplinary medical professionals trained specifically to care critically ill patients 24X 7 in a specially equipped wards.
Critical Care Unit provides advanced organ support, analysing health ailments, treating health issues with proper medical solutions with relevance guidance and support from respective specialist consultants / surgeons.
Critical Care Levels:
Level-1: Ward Care Unit (WCU)
It is the Unit that provide nursing care and basic life support medications as per the instruction of the consultants/surgeons. If required partial use of Oxygen support
Level-2: High Dependency Unit (HDU)
It is the Unit that provide more nursing care than the Ward Side, with the support of providing 24hrs Oxygen with non-invasive monitoring with other basic life support medical equipments.
Level-3: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a hospital department that provides specialized medical and nursing care, monitoring, and organ support for critically ill patients. This is the Unit supported with High-end sophisticated medical beds supported by Monitors, Ventilators, Catheters, ECG, Nasogastric Suction, Pulse Oximeter, Crash Cart, Anesthesia Machine and more.
Level-4: Trauma Care Unit (TCU)
Trauma Care Unit is also called "Casuality / Emergency Centre" which is the hospital department is the prime Unit in addressing walk-in patients illness, initial diagnosis, healing their primary concerns duly taking guidance from Intensivist / Consultants of respective medical departments. Equipments like ECG, Defibrilator, Nebulizers, Suction Lines and Oxygen Lines.
